Brighton and Hove Speakers Club are having an Open House “Taster” meeting on Wednesday 25th September 2019 and we’re inviting anyone and everyone who would like to get to know how Toastmasters clubs help people improve their public speaking. Whether it’s getting over the nerves or honing your performance for a sales pitch, Toastmasters can help.
Everyone is welcome and we’ve rejigged the program to include some special roles to help newcomers get an idea of how Toastmasters works.
The evening will include the following.
The usual warm up where everyone is invited to speak for 15 seconds, usually answering a simple question such as “What was your favourite holiday”. This serves to get us all in the mood but everyone is free to pass if they’re not in the mood.
Two “Member Spotlights” where current members share their experiences of how they came to Toastmasters and how it has helped them.
An “Ice Breaker” Speech from a new member giving their first speech prepared speech to the club and a speech from a more experienced speaker.
A segment for impromptu speaking which we call “Table Topics”. This is a fun part of the meeting and a chance for anyone to step up and give a short speech of up to 2 and a half minute on a subject handed to them just before the speech.
We think it wil be a great night and and if you’re interested in the club but not quite sure about joining then the Open House meeting is for you.
