Develop your speaking and leadership skills.
We help people gain confidence and enjoy public speaking in a friendly and supportive environment.
Welcome
Brighton & Hove Speakers Club is the Toastmasters public speaking club for the seaside city.
The club was founded in 2001 and serves its members in improving their speaking and leadership skills through learning-by-doing at regular meetings.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 23rd October 2024 at 7.30pm.
Announcement
We are running hybrid (in-person + online) meetings from 22nd September 2021.
Guests are very welcome to join our meetings either at the venue or online! Simply let us know by contacting us and we’ll send you the meeting invite!
Who are we?
We are a friendly and mutually supportive group of volunteers who share a passion and love for public speaking. The club is run by an elected volunteer committee that organises meetings for members and guests twice a month, along with occasional social events!
Our mission is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
Is it for me?
Are you looking to improve your performance in meetings, presentations or at conferences?
Are you nervous about an upcoming speech at a wedding, party or other special occasion?
Are you wanting to enjoy rather than endure the experience of speaking to people in public?
If any of these apply to you, then you are very welcome to join us either to participate or simply observe and see what we do.
The safe and supportive environment of our speakers club is one of the only places you can practise these important life skills away from the pressure of the real world.
Membership is one of the greatest investments you can make in yourself.
Where to find us?

Frequently asked questions
Who are Toastmasters International?
The club is part of a non-profit educational organisation called Toastmasters International, a world leader in communication and leadership development with a network of over 350,000 members and 16,000 clubs, spread over 143 countries worldwide.
By becoming a member, you also become part of a larger network of speakers and leaders around the world and can visit other Toastmasters clubs anywhere in the UK or worldwide, as well as participate in regional competitions and conferences.
What happens in our meetings?
We meet twice-monthly to provide members and guests the opportunity to develop and practice speaking and leadership skills.
We devote the first half of the meeting to prepared speeches. Members sign up in advance to write and rehearse a short speech before delivering it to the audience.
The second half of the meeting begins with a series of evaluations. Every prepared speaker in the first half receives constructive feedback and advice on improving their speeches from other members.
We also have a go at delivering improvised speeches in a section called “Table Topics”. Both members and guests are invited to take part by standing up and speaking about a selected topic for a couple of minutes.
Table Topics is a fun and popular segment that challenges you to think on your feet and get used to speaking off-the-cuff in front of an audience. It can be scary for newcomers, but it’ll be something you’ll want to keep coming back to time and time again!
At the end of the meeting, we like to stick around, and mingle over drinks and snacks in the hotel!
Everyone is welcome
When you join a meeting, there will be members coming from all walks of life, with a range of backgrounds and levels of experience. If you’re coming to nail that future job interview, deliver a talk for your own business, make a YouTube video, give a wedding speech or just wanting to pick up some useful tips and techniques – we can help.
Come to our next meeting
We believe that the way to find out whether this is for you is to come and try it! You can visit us as a guest for free, without obligation to join, and see if this is right for you. We look forward to welcoming you to our next meeting.
